Born, raised, and existing in Northwest Indiana, Larry “the K” Keilman likes to engage listeners in topical and challenging broadcast fare, always bringing the facts to the table and respectfully calling out those that won’t do the same. On The Afternoon Scramble, Larry mixes it up with Big George and the result is a fine brew of political opinion and engaging straight talk. On his own show, “The Clean-Up with Larry the K,” Larry brings late-breaking local and national news, talk, and music to the end of the WJOB talk show day.
Larry is a locally educated (BA, PUC 2004) and Indiana/Illinois licensed US History/Political Science/World History teacher. He has been in the business of education for seventeen years, working his way up the ranks from special education aide to department head. He has been an ardent WJOB listener since 2008 and a member of the WJOB family since 2011.
Larry takes his name from the legendary Murray “the K” Kauffman, the New York DJ who was largely responsible for breaking the Beatles in the United States. Rick Kubic and Kat Marlow offered Larry the producer's spot for their Music Underdogs show in October of 2011, and Larry continues to helm the controls on that show. Larry is also a WJOB utility player, filling in as producer, host, and other tasks when called.
